Joan's Premiere Skirt

70 years ago Walt Disney's live action movie The Story of Robin Hood and his Merrie Men had its premiere in London at the Leicester Square Theatre. Here is our lovely Joan Rice (1930-1997) wearing a specially designed skirt for the occasion.

I wonder what happened to that skirt?

It was possibly designed by Walt Disney's promotional team. The newspapers described Joan arriving in a limousine with Robin Hood motifs along the trim of her tulle skirt. Her velvet bodice was in Lincoln Green, of course!

"Joan's Premiere Skirt"

Did you see the film when it was released in 1952?

If you have any memories of the movie, please get in touch.

I had not seen this before. Joan Rices would have been the star of the Film Premiere I am sure.
Richard Todd did not attend as he was away filming - must say that was a silly decision because this was such a major World Targeted Film.
Still Joan did her job well I am sure - she did travel to many of the UK cities showing the film and was , as always, well received. She made a big contribution to this film's success
