Picture Strip 17 : Walt Disney's Story of Robin Hood
ReplyDeleteSpecial thanks to Laurence!
Wonderful colour scenes are these -filmed at the rear of Denham Studios in the grounds down to the River Colne. That location is still there of course. As we all know, this was the last film to be made there and what a fitting tribute to the Studios that were built on a scale to rival anything in Hollywood or anywhere else for that matter. The war came shortly after the building of Denham and although there were many great films made there it was never quite enough. For all us English film fans this is the magic place in our memory - somehow the others Pinewood, Ealing etc were never on this scale. Ken Annakin describes the sizes of the sets on Story of Robin Hood that could not have been built anywhere else. I am digressing from Laurence's superb picture strip but the scenes just sparked me to post this
