An Interview with Elton Hayes

Over the last few weeks we have had a great response to information on the late Elton Hayes. This week Neil has kindly sent me a link to a fascinating television interview with the folk-singer,which includes him describing working on Treasure Island and Robin Hood for Walt Disney. He also explains how he first learnt to play his legendary small guitar.

I am sure you will be impressed by the warmth and modesty of this sadly forgotten entertainer-and look out for the moment he listens to Whistle My Love on his cassette player.

Special thanks to Neil for sending in this wonderful clip. I found it quite an emotional moment to see him listening to the recording of 'Whistle My Love'. I wonder what memories were flashing through his mind?

Curiously and coincidentally, I was talking to someone who we work with who operates down in Suffolk He is much younger and would hav had no knowledge of Elton. However he said that over the years when passing by, it had often been pointed out 'that was where Elton Hayes lives' and he didnt really know who he was. He does now

Oh how wonderful it was to watch Elton Hayes, his singing voice , pure and as good as ever, his speaking voice too was almost a song in itself, thanks so much Neil for this, Elton still had that glint in his eye, wonderful
